I am facing a problem for which my new HapAC2 should be a great problem solver. But to get to this stage, I am looking for a manual… both for the configuration of the device - as I am a newbie with Mikrotik and RouterOS; but also for the general architecture of my network.
My ISP locked the ARRIS Cable Modem as much as possible, I can not change DHCP, DNS settings or isolate a guest network. The key issue is the DNS of my ISP, that is slow as hell, blocks random sites, … if I set IP Addresses and DNS static, its working with the expected speed and no DNS block.
In addition, My network is already double natted by the ISP, my routers external IP is a private 10.x.x.x.
I am now looking for possible architectures to set up my network; Not sure if my Ideas are even possible
- use the ARRIS DHCP and override the DNS with the HapAC2
- use the HapAC2 as Gateway to create a new net behind the device- even though I am tribble layered until the public IP space
for 2) How to set it up then?
Should I connect the HapAC with the internet port to the ARRIS box? Is there a brief tutorial that someone can reference too?
I hope my questions are not to stupid … but I am not sure which way to go.
