Best 2.4Ghz radio module for hotspot

We need to setup some hotspots around the buildings to serve users housed in rooms.

Any idea which is the best 2.4Ghz radio module?

The NMP-8602+ seems to give enuf power to penetrate the walls but there are few horror stories flying around, though our experience with them has been fine.

Our other choices ofcourse are SR2, CM9, R52. My concern is on the power required to penetrate the wall. I will be adding an external antenna (5dBi or so). SR2 has the power but seems a bit more expensive…

xr2 good go for it IF ITS INDOOR

mikrotik solution as more than gr8 on indoor enviroment also very relible WDS and repeaters u can’t find better than it

if u dont want to face anyproblems just go for R52 cards its regular quite card or any atheros based card AR5006

xr2 good go for it IF ITS INDOOR

600mW indoor?

Dinner cooked at the table.

For R52 or CM9 what is the recommended antenna to use with? I am thinking of using 5dBi desktop type antenna. Would that be sufficient?

Between R52 and CM9 which one has higher power and better rec. sensitivity in your experience?

Using 3 sectoral antenna 120-degree with 3-wireless radio like R52 or CM9 with tx-power=21-23dbm.

For MiniPCI I have standardised on the R52.

Very stable.

Can R52 work stable at 23dbm??? 23dbm is 200mW..

Between CM9 and R52, which one has better receive sensitivity in your experience?

If I only limit to 802.11b, will it increase the coverage?

I was told the Senao NMP-8602 will operate optimumly on channel 6. Any idea if CM9 and R52 work similarly?

Boy DO NOT GO FOR SENAO you will be banging your head into the wall after … search the forum with the term “np8602 problem” and you will understand what am I talking about !

If any how you are interested I can send you one I had on one of my APs …

simply said this is the worst card ever made - senao NP 8602!!!

Any experience on the newer NMP-8602+? 400mW for 2.4Ghz hotspot is a tempting offer…

I am not using it as backhaul, does that matter?
