Best failover setup with two ISP links

Hi!

I need some help and advice on the best way forward with a two-input setup for an office.

I am looking to configure a system that will have some fail-over capability. Here is how it should work:

  • 2 x VDSL ISP links, powering:
    — 10 PCs / Printers
    — 10 IP Phones

During normal operation, one VDSL link will be dedicated to the phone system with another VDSL link for PCs/Printers/WiFi (general use).

When one link fails, I’d like for the remaining link to take over and support both systems: phones and the rest. With phones’ system being prioritised in order to keep good quality.

Is it possible to configure RouterOS with this functionality and ideally for the system to switch-over automatically?

If the automatic switch-over is not possible, users can perform simple tasks and, for example, change ports on the switch themselsev, so would it be possible to configure the system, so that if input A fails (phones, for example), local user can change the port for Input B?

Also, some advice please on how best to set the system up: should different IP ranges be applied to phones / the rest of the network or you’d recommend to keep to one DHCP server?

Any advice, suggestions, or best practice thoughts would be mostly appreciated.

Regards,
Ian
