Best method to do bandwidth control (pcq, bfifo, red, sfq)

What and why is the best kind of queue to be used to do the bandwidth control of the clients on a WISP???

Just to I know and choice the best form.

Thanks

We are using pfifo on a system with 150-160 PPPoE online users. Works great!

its depend on what your interface connection, wireless connection and lan connection need diferent type of queue .. depend n what type limiting u want .. limiting on one workstation can be different with limiting on group

anyone can explain every one plz.

here you will find methods description:

ask, if you will have some question.

It’s possible to control the download and upload on the same simple queue???
If yes, Is it work right???

It’s important remember that I’ve different values to upload and download and I’ve client on the wireless and ethernet interfaces.

And how can I do to drop or limit to a very small bandwidth the traffic of all IPs that haven’t a simple queue??? I need of something like this because I’ve a WISP and I want to block the users that gain access to my AP or if a employer forget to create a simple queue for a client, but create the access-list entry, than this client won’t have bandwidth limitation.
I’m using the access-list, but I want a bit more secure if someone clone a mac-address allowed.

Thanks again

create simple queue that gathers al packets and limit it to wanted speed. move this rule at the bottom of simple rule list and it wil do the job for any connection that is not processed by any other rule.

Hello,
I checked the mentioned page, and I have some questions…

my configuration
mikrotik ver. 2.9.8 + routerboard 230

Just for example:

I have 2 types of clients…

first type has fix bandwidth(guaranted speed)
the second type has speed limit-at=max-limit/4

I have these clients connected to my internal wireless interface, and to my internal ethernet interface. these 2 interfaces are bridged(just because i wanted to have the same network settings /ip subnet, netmask, gw/ for every client on both interfaces)

I tried the settings from the manual for the queue tree, but I think it doesn’t work correctly

in version 2.8 was everything OK.
