Best ports for WAN / ISP on RB1100AHx4

Hi,

I have two ISP uplinks that I would like to configure in a load balance configuration. Which ports are best to be used for the ISP uplinks, and which for the LAN configuration?

Thank you!

Typically, ether11 and ether12, as they’re out of the switch chips (better for LAN) and have direct CPU connection.

RB1100AHx4 has other diagram. In this model all ethernet ports are plugged into a switches via transformers. So there is no difference in this case, all ports are equal…

Ouch… I’d swear I read RB1100AHx2…

Not exactly… In this case, optimal ports would be ether11-13 leaving one unocuppied if possible; rationale: they won’t be sharing as many ports (5) into the 2,5Gb/s switch chip uplink towards the CPU as it happens with ether1-5 or ether6-10.

Thank you for the answers. That’s what I thought also. So I will configure ISP1 on ether11 and ISP2 on ether12, leaving ether13 empty, for service/diagnostics.
