Best routerboard for wifi delivery in camping park

Hi,

I have been made some tests with RB951-2hnd, indoor and outdoor tests. The RG951-2hnd can handle several users in wifi card with nice speeds. 50 to 60 users with 2mbits/512k but the outdoor cooverage is a bit strange.

What kind of routerboard with / without case do you recoment to setup in a camping park to support maximum possible users at wifi ( just wifi card enabled with bridging for ethernet, no routing/net/connection tracking).

I need to handle a few clients, 1000 + with several units at 2.4(Country regulation to 100mw max) and 5ghz(contry regulation to 1000mw max)

Any sugestions ? I know that RB951-2hnd is very good, but i need also a good routerboard with external antenas, omni/base station.

Thanks

I use groove + a smallish gain omni antenna. Working fine for me but I dont have your number of users.

Hi,

Thanks for sugestion, i tried a few grooves in past but they get very loaded, cpu 100% and slow bandwidth, the rb951 is a bit better, but is not for outdoor.

try Groove 52 as it has more CPU power than the old Groove.

I’m going to test a RB912UAG-2HPnD in an 3rd party enclosure ( StationBox S ) as an outdoor AP. just waiting for the antenna (2x2 mimo omni ).

This is what we do.

Good, normally 90% of the camping users only have bg, not n, but i think mikrotik supports bgn maybe.

What antennas do you use for that StationBox S with RB912UAG-2HPn?

thanks

even if the user is bg only it is not bad to have 2 antannas connected.

i have ordered http://www.wlan-shop24.de/24-GHz-WiFi-Omnidirectional-Antenna-Outdoor-2x2-MIMO-15dBi, at the moment i’m waiting for it. once i have it i will do some tests.

“n” in the product name mean - it supports 802.11n, however if router has 2GHz wireless it will support all thee of them - b/g/n also, in RouterOS each type of client will get as fast as it can get,11n clients will have maximal available speeds, while b/g will only have their rates available. Same goes for 5GHz - it will support 11a, in addition that it supports 11n

Hi jaykay2342,

Did you already test the RB912UAG-2HPnD with the outdoor antena, is it good, can it handle many users ?

I am testing an rb951g-2hnd inside an outdoor case in the camping park to see how it works outdoor, this rb951g is a piece of art for indoor, it work very very well

Unfortunately we had some issues with the delivery of that antenna, due to this we had to freeze the project for the moment. i hope next week we can go onside again and finish the installation and start with testing.
