I have been looking for some time now to find the best sector antenna out there for 5GHz & 2x2 MIMO.
I plan on using ONE RB800 and ONE R52Hn & NV2. (no close by sector antennas=low interference)
The best i can find is this: 90° Ubiquity AirMax 5GHz Carrier Class Sector 2x2 MIMO Antennas 20dBi Hi-Gain Airmax Sector 5G-90-20 http://www.ubnt.com/basestation
My goal is to get as much throuput i can and i plan on connecting max 40 customer antennas to this sector using sextant stations.
If i could find 60° antennas that are as good as the one mentioned i would go for two of those instead (20 customers on each).
Airmax are good antennas but Sector 5G-90-20 has very small vertical radiation angle they are not the best for high tower (mountains).
Sector 5G-90-16 or 17 works fine in all enviroments.
My esperience: nV2 needs almoust 40/60 mhz channel spacing to avoid interference, rock metalic box with one wireless card and good separation between antennas. More wireless card running NV2 in the same box kills peformance.
I have seen that the antenna only has 4° vertical beamwidth and i have checked the distrance and angles to my clients and have concluded that 4° are more than sufficient to cover them all.
Min / max distance to clients are 2km/5km.
This sector antenna will be pritty alone on the barn so any interference from other sectors or sources will be minimal.
I am looking for the BEST antenna and if my suggestion can give me a little more speed i would prefer that one.
Why rb800?
Well i want to get the best speed and the RB800 is the fasters RB i know of.
And - it is smart to standardize on one RB. I use RB800 for my PtP links also.
