I have an RB2011UiAS-RM that I will upgrade with a CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+.
Which is the best way to move the configuration to a new one without messing the new one, specially with macaddress, and without loosing things? I want to avoid to compare many screens to ensure that I don’t miss any settings in the new one.
Since the architectures are different, im affraid that configuring your new CCR from scratch is the only option, but hey, its not a bad thing. I always preffer configuring my routers from beggining, you get that little experience of syntax typing.
You can try uploading backup from your 2011, but im not sure will that be effective.
I would try to export → edit configuration file → import
Not easy because of different hardware and default configuration, sometimes building from scratch can be easier.
At least with a /export compact you have a nice listing of what you have set up, and maybe you can cut and paste
sections of it in the new router.
That is much better than with some other manufacturer’s router where you can only export a binary unreadable backup
that can be read only on the same router, and where you cannot get a single overview of what you have set up on the
zillion of web pages and tabs of its config interface…
So it is not that bad.
