best wifi (802.11abg) option for RB1000?

I would like to “add” wireless capabilities to a rb1000.

The rb1000 would provide the following services: proxy/firewall/wireless authentication/router/dhcp/dns relay to the wireless clients.

I assume I need to add a wireless to ethernet bridge; or would you recommend something different? Mikrotik or not.

Thanks,
J.

What about RB800? Or simply attach Omnitik or Groove to RB1000.

A Groove A-2Hn would work perfectly.

Questions:

  • Does it come with a POE injector and power adapter.
  • Which antenna do you recommend for indoor use, omni-directional; would a Proxim 2.4 GHz Omni Antenna, 5 dBi work with such product?

  • Where can I purchase a Groove-A-2Hn in the USA, roc-noc is out of stock and I can’t source this product anywhere else.

Thanks!

Groove for indoor? What are you trying to do? How big is that enterior and how many walls it has? Why don’t you put series of home wireless routers?

It’s a 2700 ft^2 home, walls are made of concrete; what would be the best antennae option for indoors?
I would rather have mikrotik hardware in order to use routeros, which I find very appropriate for the job.

You might need a couple APs. I would get one to start and go from there.

I don’t think I’d need more than a groove and an antenna, the computers are all located in 3 adjacent rooms (2 being on the same horizontal plane, and one, one floor below), would a groove, placed roughly “in the middle” cover three rooms? If so, could you advise me on the proper antenna?

You should be fine with one then. You would need an antenna like http://www.flyteccomputers.com/details.cfm?wid=214&wb=HG2409RD-NFB but in 5 GHz unless you want to switch to the 2.4 GHz Groove then this antenna would work fine.

yes, groove includes a PoE injector, adapter and mounting ties
