Beta 6 problem with marvell based network card

Beta 6 version posible on older beta version.
Marvell gigabit network card two adpater

  1. with integrated on mainboard network controler 88E8001
  2. PCI card TP-Link TG-3201 marvell 88E8001

on older version 2.9.39 tested work ok, but in beta version only network card integrated on mainboard work.
Network card in beta is detected and running but led on card don’t lite and no link. On switch port also no cable connection.
When disable and enable network card led diode on network card short blink.
Very strange some type chip but solder on mainboard work and PCI don’t, after reset led go off and when Mikrotik boot go on, but on beta version on PCI card don’t.
Maybe is card broken but work on 2.9.39 I replace with some older VIA cip 100Mbit and work same cable, same config.
This is cheap 1Gb netwok card but posible some other model also afected.

Is someone else have problem ?

On cip is write:

PCI card on cip
88EE8001-LKJ
AGR55B.2
0539 A4P

Intergrated
88E8001-LKJ
AGRFK.A

Best regards…

Hi Npero,
My personal experience of these network cards and GigaBit Cards in particular is that most of them are not to Kosher in Linux - and since MT is based on Debian Linux it follows that it could have similar problems with these cards.
As example:
I Use Suse Linux in my company for file servers mail servers etc. and I found that the SysKonnect PCI-E Network cards work and then suddenly they stop working. Within days of each other. I don’t know if it’s specifically related to PCI-E network cards or Gigabit but anyway if you are using a gigabit card on normal PCI it’s mostly pointless because the PCI bus has a MAX data bandwidth of 133Mbit’s (AFAIK).

I have tried various cards with carying Success - the only Card that has given me NO problems is the Intel GigaBit Server Adapter. (I hope that I’m allowed to mention the names!) The card works in varioustypes of slots (PCI-E X16, PCI-E X1, PCI, PCI64 etc.) I haven’t been able to use this card on MT yet - they are rather expensive and I can’t establish if they arecompatible with MT because the MT network card Compatibility List has been Missing from the Documentation for a LONG time now . . . .

I hope that I was of some help. Coincidently the Network cards that MT sells work very well.

if PCI bus is absolutely empty it could bring that 1Gbit but it is not empty, as result we can get about 400 - 600Mbps

if you get just 133 or so Mbps, then you should look for problem with your hardware.
