Better Usage options?

We switched from a speed based setup controlled via the individual radios to a usage based setup processed through our edge Mikrotik that connects to the fiber network. We use Queues to track all the usage and I have a server and scripts that collect the usage data, enable and disable the users integrated with our custom billing system.

Running about 200 mbps at night with about 1000 queues I am wondering if simple queues are the best way to go. I do not know if we are ultimately hindering performance using queues and firewall. Is there a better solution to gathering this information that people have experience with?

Please let me know your experience.

We use PPPoE and RADIUS accounting

pppoe still uses simple queues if i’m not mistaken, right? If so that doesn’t eliminate the queues or the firewall filter rules.There is also sporadic issues on a congested link (IE Legacy Cambium pmp100’s) with PPPOE . That was how we initially started it years ago, I know they went through bouts in trying to fix it.
