Main Router: hAP ac²
HW: RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC
FW: 6.49.10
Repeater: cAP
HW: RBcAPL-2nD
FW: 6.49.10
For now the cAP is not wired, i want to know what the better way to extend my 2.4 wireless with same SSID, if is with wireless interface as station bridge and virtual wlan as bridge ap, WDS, or if has any other option more optimized to do it? Thanks.
With the cAP as a repeater i need to do some config on firewall?
If you can’t go with wires, then configure naster wireless interface on cAP as station-bridge.
The rest of config should be as dull as possible: create a btidge, set all interfaces as bridge ports (both ethernet interfaces, master wireless interface as well as virtual wireless interface), create a virtual wireless interface and use exactly the same security settings as for connecting to master AP (same SSID, password and security algorithm; copy them from AP config). Add IP address to bridge (from same subnet as main LAN) - I suggest you to set it statically so you can manage the device even if it isn’t wirelessly connected to main LAN). And that’s it, no firewall, no DHCP server, no nothing.
I don’t think there’s a quick-set profile for such functionality (but I may be wrong). The easiest way of getting to this config is by connecting using winbox, reset device with no config (not even factory default), connect by clicking MAC address and proceed with configuration.
