I have my first link with bgp protocol enabled.
It was very esy to setup:
you need to know:
your as number;
your network to advertise;
the as number of your peer;
the bgp router’s ip of your peer.
Put it on the configuration windows, do some test with multihop enable/disable to see what configuration your provider has on its router and everything should work.
Remebar that both side have to configure the router not just you. So enabling BGP involves you (to configure your router), RIPE to give you AS# and IP, and your provider (to configure their router).
Mikrotik impemets a very easy way to use BGP without any special parameter to alter the way the protocoll works.
