BGP ERROR

Dear Sir/Madam;

We would like to setup a bgp connection between us and our provider. Provider side uses Juniper M160 unfortunately we cant get a connection, after that to make sure everything is ok we have downloaded and installed the routing.test package, the test package first out putted an error of not having a routerid then we entered the routerid so it worked correctly using the test package. Then we disabled the test package and tried to connect via bgp. BGP never establishes a connection and provides the error supplied below:

show log messages

M160Ist-re0 rpd[2857]: bgp_recv: peer xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (External AS xxxxx): received unexpected EOF
M160Ist-re0 rpd[2857]: bgp_recv: peer xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (External AS xxxxx): received unexpected EOF
M160Ist-re0 rpd[2857]: bgp_recv: peer xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (External AS xxxxx): received unexpected EOF

So having those errors we tried to solve the problem using the information supplied on the link http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/routing/bgp .On the same page under the bgp command reference we tried to use the quick setup info provided by you on your website.

For your information there was no command or arguement called instance.

After all the diagnostics that we made we think that it is because of TTL’s timing . It is configured as 1 in the test package and that works but we couldnt set the TTL timing under the router bgp suite. Do you have any idea?

You can configure the instance by using

/routing bgp instance

you can also setup filters by using

/routing filter

and then configure the peer using

/routing bgp peer

We’ve still got major issues with 2.9.11 routing test but havent had time to troubleshoot more. We send support tickets about them but never heard back - I assume that MUM took all resources and maybe someday they will get back to it. I’m hoping BGP becomes more stable so we don’t have to buy any crisco boxes…

Thx,
Sam
