BGP issue in 2 WAN

Hi all

I am facing a bgp issue, i have 2 uplink 1 with 5G another with 2G bandwidth. my issue is all most 85-90% download bandwidth is using the 5G link, but the upload 90% Bandwidth is going through 2G link. I want all the packets upload and download go through there respective link.

how to resolved it.

thanks in advance.

I will assume you have at least moderate skill because you are using BGP, so I am thinking WISP or small ISP.

Break the /24 advertizing up to the two connections with a fail-over by pre-pending AS on the opposite link.

You know which source IPs go out which interface now and so you send them there. Don’t forget the failover at greater distance to second link just incase primary is down.

It can’t be done automatically but you can manually balance it. This is not mikrotik specific you are dealing with a transit router where packets are simply passing thru. It’s not like an endpoint router where the traffic is NAT’ed and you can work with connection marks etc.

we are small ISP, can you elaborate how to do it, i have 2 IP pool of /24, Do I need to advertise with /25?

I am not using all the IPs in the pools, we used NAT for most customers.

Your upstream ISP won’t accept anything smaller than /24.

Are you on OS6/OS7 with your BGP which is needed to help with BGP?

However if you are NAT’ing on the same router as the BGP then it’s an endpoint router not transit so you can do PCC which is easier. A large ISP never has that the BGP is a core router only dealing with public ips.
