I am running .49 and can almost bet money on the fact that every 5-6 days my BGP will stop routing our traffic out and the only thing that fixes it is a reboot of the router. I unfortunately did not try .45, went directly from .44 to .49 just to find that I have the same problem. I am running the routing-test package still to no avail. What is weird is I still have an established BGP connection, still have a default route, it just won’t route the traffic. Next time this happens I will try and get a support.rif file, it just always happens at the worst of times when I need to get it back so fast that I just reboot it. I am beginning to wonder if the BGP problems will ever get fixed.
I am only receiving a default route and I am advertising 8 public ranges back to our upstream provider. Very basic BGP. Want to get it working right before I go any more complex.
I wonder if its the fact your getting the default route via BGP … I’ve never had your problems, even with 10,000 routes, but I’ve always used a static default route to the next hop upstream. When you have that problem is the default route active (and not blue in winbox)?
Yes it is. That is the strangest part, we still have a valid active default route. The router just does not route traffic out. Yet after a reboot, everything is fine.
turn on some more debug logging for the routing stuff… i am guessing your routing process is crashing. if you try to add / remove another route while its in this condition does it work?
Im guessing the routing table update process are dead. Ive had that happen before. Try filtering out the default gateway you receive and setting it static for a few days and see it that cures it. also definately take a supout during that time and open a ticket up.
