Blank hotspot login page with Internet Explorer

I have set up wireless hotspot services in a very remote area where most users are using computers that have not connected to the Internet before. I am seeing seeing difficulties with Internet Explorer just displaying blank page when it should be redirected to the login page. It is a browser issue because if you run Firefox on the same machine it redirects to the login page appears very promptly.

I suspected proprietary “first use” settings, proxy settings etc but can’t find a reliable fix. It is especially noticeable with newer computers.

What advice can I give to customers? They can’t all be expected to install Firefox, especially if they can’t connect.

One potential problem is DNS. What DNS name are you using for your Hotspot? Firefox and Chrome use their own proprietary DNS resolution methods while IE uses the OS. You should use a properly formed name with a proper TLD.
