block hotspot users from seeing each other.

Hi,

I have setup the below configuration

internet → cable modem ->Mikrotik ether1 → hotspot ether2 ->netgear router running as an AP → wireless clients

The MT is allocating ipaddresses from the hotspot to the clients. The problem I am having is that the clients can see each other as they are on the same network. I understand that if you use the Mikrotik as a wireless hotspot you can switch off the default foward which stops this happening. Can this be done if ether2 is running as a hotspot?

Thanks Mark

  1. You can have separate subnet for every client you have. But this is not suitable for clients over 100 or 200

  2. Using PPPoE maybe, since this is a good solution on wired LAN. I never tried it on Wireless.

Does your AP has isolation mode? If it does, turn it on, it will help user from seeing each other.

I used Dlink AP, Senao, etc. Most Ap has isolation mode to prevent user seeing each other, or hosting internal game server through AP.

Cheers.
