Boards losing connectivity

hi all

i have a high site that is experiencing a strange problem. It has been running now for 3 years and has never had a problem. But within the last few months, the router board i have installed (rb433uah) just stops responding. winbox cannot detect it and we can still see that the ssids are available. it will eventually come back on and upon logging into it, the uptime shows as if it had never actually reset. it will do this through out the day. could this be a weather-based problem?

now in the board i have 3 cards. two being dBii doodle lab cards running at 400 mw and the other is a standard r52 mikrotik card. i noticed when swapping the first board that the cards are touching. would this cause the router to overheat or something to that extent? this is the forth board we have replaced.

please heeeeelp!!!

New radio Fm interferences in the tower. Its possible? If yes, try to shield the wires!

when you say new is this the frequency they use or what? one thing i know is here in zimbabwe we dont have most new things. for a bit of perspective, we have no fiber optic in most parts of the country and blackberry features dont work on our cell networks.

is there any information from the problem unit that i can post here that will help determine the problem? system health or number of associated clients?

i have another high site about 1km away and it hasn’t had problems since install.

Interferences in the wires can cause this. Because you said uptime is ok..

Hi Zimbofury,
We’re not really doodle labs. Doodle labs is another company based in singapore that also does wireless equipment ODM/OEM. Dbii is based in Taiwan
I’m sorry to hear about your problem. Maybe it’s the wires like Ibersystems mentioned. I’m surprised you were able to fit 3 cards onto the routerboard. Usually only 2 cards will fit when using our card. The cards touching is not necessarily the best thing as there should be some separation between the 3 cards.

hi all

thanks for the input. it seems that it was a power based issue as we had to add a UPS to the current setup. (which was just an inverter) all is well now! XD

and talo1019, we only managed to fit 2 in with one of the mikrotik r52 cards in. bit of a squeeze. but since i have removed the third r52 card and installed its own rb411. much safer for the equip! and sorry for the confusion between the companies; i think it was our supplier who told us they were doodle labs.

thanks again!
