Bonding 2 WAN interfaces for 1200Mbit

Hi all,
I have a 1200/300 Mbit connection from my ISP. It is coax and an Arris modem in bridge mode (mediaconverter)
Ether1 (WAN1) works fine standalone. Ether2 (WAN2) was moved ffrom the bridge to the WAN list
If I make a bonding interface with WAN1 & WAN2 as slaves, and moves the DHCP client to bonding1, no IP is offered/ack’ed.
I have tried all protocols on bonding. My first chice was 802.3ad, but sadly to no effect.
How do I bundle (to use a generic term) those 2 interfaces ?

Does the modem support bonding and have you enabled it? AFAIK only some do, others support 2.5Gb on one of the ethernet interfaces instead.

The Arris modem is in bridge mode. That is why I am trying to bond 2 interfaces.
I have asked my ISP, if that is an issue.
But for 1200/300, they changed the exisiting Arris, with an Arris (apparantly a different model.)

Bridge mode means that Arris doesn’t perform any L3 function (routing, firewaling, NATing, …), it only performs L2 functions (bridging ethernet and DOCSIS ports). Bonding ethernet ports IS L2 function, but has to be enabled and configured … if device supports it at all.

Well, as I expected - my ISP did not tell the whole truth.
They are unable to deliver 1200 Mbit by link-aggregation fro their modem to my router.
They intend the connection to be 2x 600, 3x 400 or 4x 300 Mbit. I.e to 2,3 or 4 interfaces.
No link-aggregation whatsoever.

On the upside, I have 950/312 Mbit now. Not all is bad.

I have two Arris Surfboard SB8200’s that do support link aggregation. It has to be enabled by browsing to the modem itself and turning it on. I think it was LACP, but I’m not sure. It ended up being pretty flaky, so I’ve replaced it with a modem that has a 2.5GBE port, and will eventually replace the RB4011 at the site with an RB5009, or add a CRS305 in front of the 4011.
