Hi! I have a crs109-8G-1S-2HnD-In switch/router and a netgear nas with 2 nics. The nas permits me to use the 2 nics with bonding.
I connected the 2 ethernet cables to the nas and to ports 5 and 7 of my crs109-8G-1S-2HnD-In router, and I was trying to activate bonding from interfaces/bonding: I created a new bond and set the slaves to the ports 5 and 7, but when saving I got a message “couldn’t add New Interface - ether5 already in ether2-master (6)”.
For bonding the slave devices must not be members of switch group or bridge. First unset the master setting for the two ports you want to bond together and then re-try to create bond.
Depends on the version of ROS, but judging from your initial post, I’d say in /interface ethernet … the ports you want to use for bonding must neither be master to any other port nor have set any ther port as master.
If a port is not master but has one set as master, then you simply unset the master port. If port is master to others, then you need to set a new master to all of those ports. Preferably one of ports previously belonging to same master you’re taking away.
