Workstation is XP Pro SP2 without firewall enabled, IP is 10.0.0.2
The MAC never shows up on the device list, can console into the RB. SEtup to boot.. ALl it says is
Booting from BOOTP. … Failed
IT reboots and continues to do this?
Suggestions!
I’ve seen something that looks the same with a Soekris Net4501. Can you run Ethereal on the XP PC and determine where the process fails?
In my case, the router was obtaining an IP address but then the PC was returning Port Unreachable to the TFTP requests.
In the end, I stuck the CF card into a reader on the PC and installed it there.

you just need to upload the new RB npk package with FTP and reboot.
Regular Netinstall will not work with RB500.
Issue with that, I don’t know the RB admin password now! IT has changed!
I’ve run into this problem before…it’s always been with SecurtCRT. The older versions do it a lot more than the new ones. For us, rebooting usually makes this go away. Somehow the program and/or com ports get screwed up and netinstall will aways fail. Start the net boot process while keeping netinstall closed, then try running netinstall a few seconds after the board starts looking for it’s lease.
MT ended up e-mailing me a link to a 2.9 RB netinstall package, a new version of Netinstall. It was just for me, so they have removed it.
So. If your net install is not working, e-mail mt and they will shoot you the proper netinstlal file.
