You should use the latest netinstall program and install the latest RouterOS version. Set the RouterBOOT to etherboot (to use netinstall) and connect it directly to your PC network card.
And xmodem can only upgrade the RouterBOOT, not RouterOS.
I have both the latest version of netinstall and the routeros software…
It is well understood routeros itself cannot be upgraded from serial…
I have the connection between the routerboard and pc connected through a decent enough switch but ill do a direct connection to see if that helps anybit…
could you post the print out from your console when you boot the board up, so we could see what bios version are you using?
What happened when you specified to boot form Ethernet, could you post the printout form the console?

so it means the netinstall is working. In the Netinstall specify the latest RouterOS packages to install. And after installation specify the router to boot from the NAND.
No offense to any, but I think If I do another netinstall imma loose my sanity. I think im just stuck with a board that went dead on me, no bigge; its all a part of the wisp game, losses that is. I guess ill just turn this board into the tftp server ive needed for so long but refused to dedicate a standalone box to it.
