Had 3 RB911s behind RB260GSP when upgrading the software the board have locked up show Ethernet signal but will not appear in winbox equipment list! Just repeated same process on second tower ( yes stupid ) think this is a result of the 260gsp being on automatic setting on POE. Anyone else experienced this? any fix for the units on the tower?
If the 260GSP really did power off the port while the 911 was in the middle of performing the software upgrade, then yeah, the upgrade would have been incomplete and that certainly could render the system unbootable. The fix is to re-image the 911s with the Netinstall software. You could try to do this remotely, and if you are lucky, the 911s failed in such a way that they are automatically trying to netboot…get a computer running Netinstall on it onto the same L2 as the 911 boards, reboot them all by toggling their power on the 260GSP, wait a few minutes, and see if any of them show up on the targets list in Netinstall. If not, your only option I am afraid at that point is to climb the tower and retrieve the boards…to trigger Netinstall/netboot mode, you will need to find the reset button and hold it in as you apply power, requiring physical access to each unit.
The good news is that your configuration on each board should be intact. Just make sure to check the box on Netinstall for “keep old configuration” before clicking that Install button.

Thanks Nathan,
You confirmed what I thought. I know I can not be the only person who has experienced this, looking back I now believe this is the 3rd or 4th time this has occurred, all were various routerboard behind 260gsps and one of these is at 300ft!
