Hi, I hope I’m posting this question in the correct section.
I’ve been teaching myself the in’s and out’s of setting up Mikrotik’s for a while now and have reached a point where I am not sure how to continue.
The scenario is as follows:
I have a large area to to provide cover to embedded devices. They are all pre-configured to connect to a specific ssid and get their ip’s, gateway addr, etc via dhcp which is provided by a backend server. (all ip’s within one subnet)
I have bought two 2.4ghz baseboxes with 5ghz minipci radio cards added with the idea of each basebox being an AP with the 5ghz providing a wireless uplink between the two sites. My backbone is via ethernet from the one site back to the application server.
My question is what would be the best way to configure the radio’s, do I create an AP at each site and bridge all the interfaces or would it be better to use WDS. (the clients from site 2 might be able to see site 1 sometimes and vise versa, so I was thinking WDS to prevent loops).
I am very new to WDS setup’s
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Charles
