bridge vlan RB1000 and eci telecom switch - Problem

Hey Folks,

Looking for some help here.

I have an RB1000 with two WAN providers, each is providing me with VLANS to my branches.

One WAN provider is working perfectly with a routed network.

The second WAN provider uses ECI telecom (an Israeli manufacturer) for their Nationwide Fibre network.

I receive from the providers ECI switch in the entrance facility 3 VLANS (numbered 3000 3001 and 43). I have a /28 subnet for these subnets to use, and so I have combined the three VLANS together with a bridge and applied 172.220.21.1/28 to that bridge.

Now heres the weird stuff.

1: All the remote sites on VLAN 3000 work perfectly.
2: The remote sites using vlan 43 and 3001 cannot work at all, I see no mac addresses on those VLAN interfaces.
3: If I remove the vlan 43 and 3001 from the bridge and put some other subnet /30 there the vlan works fine, so the provider has mapped VLANS properly.

Can anyone give some tips as to why this design should not work?

Many thanks,

Alex

Ok,

It seems that what I am trying to do is not a wise / recommended thing.

I am told that you should not bridge VLANS that exist on the same physical interface. Can anyone tell me why this should not be the case?
