Bridge vs. Switch Menu

Hi,

I dont know, if I understand it right:

Bridge = Software Switch (but on specific devices, some features are Hardware Offloaded)
Switch = Hardware Switch-Chip configuration

Bridge = all functions available, regardless of the switch chip
Switch = only the functions which the switch chip supports are available

Are there advantages of the Switch Menu over the Bridge menu?
For me, the Switch Menu is somehow old and intrasparent. The way you work with VLANs is a real pain.
The Bridge with Tag/Untag is clear and works like all other devices.

Switch = wirespeed
Bridge = depends on CPU speed, speed of CPU-switch chip interconnect, other tasks performed by device (wireless, firewall, IPsec tunnels)
