bridge Xfinity hotspot

here is my situation. I have just received the keys to my shiny new warehouse office. I have a fiber connection on order but am told that it is 90+ day out. I hate to pay for 3 months of rent if I cant even use my office.

in the same complex there is a very strong stignal from “xfinity Wifi” and my laptop links right up. but now I am on a different network from my Printers, desktops and servers. I have an infinity account(forced to use comcrap at home).

my thought was I take one of my Mikrotiks with wireless and build a bridge so I can use the xfinity wifi as my WAN and everything will be on that network. should be easy right? well it seems to get more complicated because of the captive portal.

I setup a cloud switch to connect with xfinity using station pseudo bridge as that has worked in the past for temporary situations on other networks. it connects right up but no splash page. DNS works as I can lookup addresses but everything else is blocked until you sign in. no portal no love.

I have tried both bridged and not bridged(I would routed over bridged to hide all my devices)

I have even tried cloning the mac of a working laptop but still no joy.

any thoughts?

what about ur nat…if u made a server

a server may be the answer. I had thought about that before but hated to waist a laptop just to get internet. It is a temp situation so I guess it wont be too terrible to connect a laptop then bridge the wireless to the wired connection and use that as the WAN. its a little “Rube Goldberg” but so far its my only option.

I will give it a try today but I am still interested in getting it to work directly from a wireless router. If I ever end up working at a job site without internet but has xfinity wifi in range I would love to have a cloud switch already setup to just hook in and have a full network.
