According to Mikrotik Supported Hardware it seems to be supported, in fact ROS loaded the driver which leads me to believe it isn’t a PCI id issue.
Guess the problem is no interface is seen on interface > ethernet? Does that same box recognize (and make it usable) that nic if you boot a regular linux system?
I downloaded ROS 6.36.3 & still not detected. i have two rtl8193d network car, but one card installed and another one not installing.
how much minimum RAM required to configure web proxy with hotspot. i congigured with 2gb ram but the performance is bad., that is why i am trying to install ROS with dell pc with 4 gb ram.
No minimum RAM, web-proxy proxy runs even on devices with 64Mb of RAM. Beware nowadays most web traffic is HTTPS, so web proxy for transparent caching isn’t of much use.
Make sure both cards aren’t sharing the same IRQ in the BIOS or try a different PCI slot. RTL chipsets are “cheapo” ones, don’t expect any remarkable performance from them.
Regarding why one isn’t detected, it’s probably because is a recently released one, maybe with different PCI-IDs not yet included on ROS. Does this card work under any OS? If so, Create a supout file and send it to support, if PCI-ID is the issue they’ll update the PCI-id database in a next release.
What’s the bandwidth available and your network size? 9 times out of ten, a regular routerboard will be cheaper with a lower cost per ether port, providing a much better price/performance ratio, and will be more reliable, while avoiding all PC platform related typical headaches and drawing a fraction of the power.
20 Mbps can be managed by almost any routerboard, depending on the programming (QoS, firewall…), even a $59 Hex.
However, when choosing equipment there are more variables to consider, and this would be your main Provider Edge router, so…
The bare, absolute minimum I’d use in your scenario is a RB2011UiAS-RM (about $119)
A more future-proof choice would be a RB3011 ($179)
If you plan to grow your network, and this will be your provider Edge Router, I would deploy either a RB1100AHx2 ($349) or a CCR1009 line router ($425 onwards).
You’d rather have a good QoS in place than using web-proxy, will provide much better results in terms of network “smoothness”; that is, unless you’re charged by downloaded data.
Thank you, the problem solved now, i installed and configured hotspot with webproxy, the problem i made on nat rule dst port i put 80 that is why i am not able to browse & now i changed to 8080.
now i can browse internet with fast.
i may ask you some question if have any doubt in future. if you like to share your mail id it is useful for me.
