Browser address bar often forgets the link after I press Enter and does nothing

I have this problem that is bothering me for quite some time and it happens on my desktop and laptops. It happens quite often, at least one time to a few times per hour.

I mainly use Chrome and Opera and both exhibit this behavior:

  • open a New tab


  • type URL in Address bar


  • press Enter


  • URL gets deleted from the Address bar and no page loads


  • type again the URL, press Enter and the page loads fine

I’ve changed the DNS on the router and in the IPv4 Windows configuration, but it didn’t help.

I have a RB450G router, could it be the culprit?

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Not a Mikrotik problem.

What do you suspect it could be, since it happens on multiple devices, connected either by ethernet cable or wifi.

If you can reproduce this behaviour in a non MikroTik environment, you can assume it is not MikroTik related.

What devices are you talking about? Do they all share the same default search engine?
And what makes you think it is MikroTik related?

I suspected the DNS servers at first, and then the Mikrotik router because all the devices get the internet connection via NAT from the Mikrotik.
They are various personal laptops, a desktop and a work laptop.
The search engine does not have anything to do with it, because it happens even with full website addresses, when I type them in the address bar.
But the search engine is indeed google, for all of them.
