Preform a hardware reset (unplug power, hold res/wps button, plugin power, wait for usr light to blink, release res/wps button)
Connect laptop to hAP ac2 Ethernet port 2
Run WinBox
Select Neighbors tab
Click on hAP ac2 MAC address in list of routers (Connect To field will be populated with the MAC address)
Press WinBox Connect button
WinBox will connect to hAP ac2,
display CPE Quick Set dialog (it actually should display WISP AP dialog),
and then disconnect after approximately 3 seconds
This bug was likely introduced in RouterOS 7 as it was noticed after upgrading from 6.X.
This bug is nasty because it appears to also cause WinBox
to be unable to connect to RouterOS having no default configuration (e.g. no IP addresses).
Thank you for the reply. I made a typo. The steps were done using WinBox 3.37 (current stable release).
The issue appears to be hAP ac2 specific (replicated on two hAP ac2 devices).
Doing the same steps with a RB951G-2HnD upgraded to RouterOS 7.6 did not cause WinBox to disconnect.
Appreciate if anyone else who encounters the issue posts a reply.
Ok, I do have a hAP ac2 running 7.6 but I am not prepared to reset it. Maybe could try a MAC connect with the current config.
I have seen before (with other devices) that the default mode for QuickSet does not make much sense and locks you out of the device in typical usage scenario.
But I don’t use QuickSet that much, I just let the device apply default settings then work from there.
