Bug in quickset [up to v7.2rc4] when updating LAN subnet

Hi there,

There is a bug introduced at some point in v7, when trying to update the LAN subnet vía quickset. The bug is quite simple to reproduce: reset the router NOT using “No default config” flag and just go to quickset and change your LAN’s subnet to anything different than 192.168.88.1/24 (LAN IP and DHCP pool). Once done, go to IP → DHCP Server → Networks and you will see that DNS entry is still pointing to 192.168.88.1, rather than the IP you choose in quickset for your router’s LAN. It is a bug that I think should be fairly simple to correct, but pretty annoying for beginners, as the router is automatically not resolving DNS queries, hence not going to the internet from a user perspective (not working, from a beginner’s point of view).

By the way: Is this the correct way of reporting issues? I haven’t found any clear guide in the forum.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Along with posting here to warn other users you should also send e-mail to support@mikrotik.com … they appreciate (and often require) that you attach supout file created when router is misbehaving (in your case they would probably like to have files created before and after the change). And include link to forum post in the e-mail as well, support engineer dealing with your ticket might want to drop by …

Great, thanks for letting me know mkx. I will prepare this email as well with those details you mention and link to this post.

Cheers.

The bug still exists as of v7.6. :frowning:

@jhbarrantes did you send the ticket?

Yes, it is corrected in 7.7betaX.

Kind regards!

Thanks. After reading your post, just saw the fix in 7.7beta3.
