You know the difference between RouterOS and firmware?

RouterOS (as in windows OS) is at 7.16.2. But: RouterBoot (as in BIOS / UEFI) is at 7.16.1. RouterBoot upgrade files are shipped to device along with RouterOS but it’s not installed automatically. Hit that “Upgrade” button and reboot device.

in ios mikrotik i im see this, but in windows they are now 7.17rc1

Again (and read my lips:) there’s RouterOS version and Routerboot version. Both are distinct.

I think the OP has a bug in his brain!, but to be accurate its a worm.

To upgrade Routerboard, use SystemRouterBOARD that updates

To say it straight and loudly:

ROS for routers is as Windows/Linux/*BSD for PC. Firmware for router is as BIOS/UEFI for PC. They could do not keep the same version pace.

You can upgrade Windows/Linux/*BSD without touching BIOS/UEFI, you can update BIOS/UEFI do not touching Windows/Linux/*BSD .
In the Mikrotik’s world when you upgrade/install ROS you can upgrade=synchronize firmware to the same version as ROS if only you follow anav’s suggestion - correct version of firmware is delivered within ROS package. There should be no harm if you do not update it but it would be better to keep version at the ROS’ level as some drivers could be updated/added even if you do not use them (or you just think you do not use them).

Edit:

Factory version is the lowest ROS/firmware version that you should install. There should be no way to install the lower one but who knows what users can do. If you manage to do that somehow then you should not complain at all that “something” does not work.

OT, but calling the router Archer AX53 seems to me a touch of genius.

just to pretend, cause my isp modem is already bridge and my isp uses Huawei ONT they can see what device is connected, its not allowed to use mikrotik specially if you will resell the internet.

And you also spoof the MAC to a TP-LINK one? :open_mouth:

nope i just channge the identity

Hmmm.
Just for the fun of it, run the Wireless Network watcher from Nirsoft (it is not for wireless only):
https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_watcher.html
besides other things, it identifies “Network Adapter Company” (cannot say if via MAC or through other means) my guess is that it will see your hex as “Routerboard.com”.
