Hi,
I opened a support ticket some days ago (#2011050266000218) regarding a memory leak on all our RB750: day after day the “used memory” of the board increase constantly as long as there are just 3-4MB left and the board goes instable. Reboot solves the problem but then used memory keeps increasing again.
All RB750 are running last RouterOS 4.17 and Bootloader 2.29, upgraded after we met this bug in the previous versions.
These boards are working in different network but they are configured the same, with just RSTP on bridge interfaces and some EoIP tunnels.
Some days passed after the first (and only, so far) reply from Janis: he kindly suggested to set RSTP on all bridges but nothing changed.
Then I discovered that only few RB750 were not affected by this memory leak: the RB750 without EoIP tunnels on them had full memory available even after more than 150 days of uptime. I made three different supout files and sent them to support. Let’s see what happens.
So, I guess it’s something related to EoIP on RB750 since in our other boards (RB1000, RB1100, RB433AH, RB411…) this problem is not present (we have hundred routerboards working since 2006).
Well, did anyone experiment the same problem? Can anyone suggest a working version of RouterOS not affected by this bug?
Yes, I will try 5.2 (or newer) as soon I end the tests with 4.xx: I can’t really believe all the 4.xx family has this bug and nobody has spotted it! I’m quite confident that there’s at least a bunch of “stable” versions that are not affected and using one of them would be enough for me!
All our networks are now running 4.xx, we had to tune many parameters when upgrading from 3.xx and at the moment it’s not time to upgrade everything to 5.xx! If my tests are unsuccesfull, well, I will try 5.xx on RB750 only… but all this 4.xx versions were supposed to be stable and recent history shows the very opposite!
Hi,
I downgraded the RB750 of my first post to RouterOS 4.11 and bootloader 2.27 (shipped with 4.11) and the used memory now is stable, few days have passed and looks like it does not increase anymore. Previously, with 4.17, there was a 500kB constant increase every single day!
This is the very same board of my previous post, with the very same configuration: I just downgraded RouterOS and bootloader.
So, I will downgrade all my RB750 to 4.11 as long I don’t see an entry in the next changelogs or I get an answer from Mikrotik support (yes, so far no replies…).
To be sure, I’ll keep monitoring my RB750 just to prevent any other weird behavior…
