Hello
due of a lightning my RB2011 won’t turn on. Connecting a power supply it goes in protected mode. Opened the case I found a burned component, the one marked as “L2” but I wasn’t able to identify it… removed it, obviously the power supply is working but the RB is off. Does anybody have an idea about this? is it a diode, a zener a Varicap? Really no idea…
I attach a pic of the board where the L2 was placed, is marked in red.
Thanks in advance, Leonardo

That seems to be inductor, what number is on it ? Its probably a part of a power supply so no wonder it wont work.
But in case of a lightning strike… Hardly there is only one component faulty…
Hello, thanks for answering me!
as I can see it was just a peak of power, the lightning didn’t hit directly my house, I had few damages (router, only the VDSL port and the RB).
Visual inspecting the RB it seems to be ok, anyway for a few cents component I can try to fix it ![]()
sadly there’s no number on it, ot it’s no longer readable, so I cannot identify it

YES! I got the info from a very kind support system.. now I have to find it ![]()
thanks all for support ![]()
Ok I found the component on Aliexpress for less than 2,50 euro… 100 pieces… It will take its time to arrive, as soon as I’ll get it I’ll do my test ![]()
Passive components don’t burn out alone, unless we are talking fuses. Expect some silicone nearby to be fried as well.
You can short-circuit the inductance to do a test. The Schottky diode must be broken and something else in the red circled area. In general, do not wait for inductance, look for other burned parts. Burnt inductance is a consequence, not a cause.

Why didn’t you show the other parts, because the filter inductance was not the only cause?
