Im about to do an install where i will have a cable modem on the ground, and that will provide the internet to the hotspot i will be running on two MT boxes on poles.
What i would like to do is:
I have a 4 pt PoE Switch. RB 1 is on a pole, RB 2 is on a different pole. I have an outdoor cat 5 run back to the trailor where the cable modem and switch are, for power.
Can i plug all 3 (modem and 2 RBs) into the switch, have RB1 handle all routing and hot spot services, and then have RB2 just act as a repeater of RB1, but via the CAT5 and not using WDS, as i had originally planned.
in all my other installs, I’ve always had my wan connection, on a separate eth interface, so i dont have any experience with this unusually setup of wan line, RB DHCP server, and RB repeater on the same swtich at layer 2.
any input.
thanks?
