Hello world !!!
I am looking for suitable LAN cable to use with my MiktoTiks.
They are mostly Grooves, SXT, SXTsq.
For my outdor installations I prefer by Python and some
other “better” cables.
The problem is that these cables cannot be used with the
mentioned MTs. The connectors are too big for the hole in
the cap of the Groove devices, and they are too long for the
SXTs (or I have to leave the cap open).
Which cables do you prefer ?
My installations are at the shore, they should resist sun, wind
and salt and fit into the devices.
I am trying to imagine Ethernet connectors that will fit into a standard jack, and yet are too wide to fit through a Groove cap with the rubber grommet removed, and also too long to fit into an SXT with the door closed.
I think a model of “tool-less” CAT6 tips I once carried may fit this bill, but we used those only in emergency situations. And even those were only super long, not super thick.
Why are you using connectors of this style, instead of standard crimp connectors that fit everything?
Our company’s standard cable is Shireen DC-1042, shielded and gel-taped against moisture, with shielded metal-case crimp tips. We occasionally have to file or drill a casing slot a bit wider to allow the thicker cable, but the cable is rock-solid. The only failure mode we ever encountered was rodent chew damage.
