I have a bit of a nasty problem.
We’ve been running Cacti to monitor our MKTK equipment (ref. http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=25349)
If we upgrade to any ROS newer than v 4.9 cacti doesn’t retrieve any SNMP data. Tried 5 beta, too… result is the same.
If I browse the SNMP tree with a different software… the OIDs are there with all data.
Nothing has changed in Cacti setup, nothing has changed on MKTK equipment…
If I downgrade to v 4.9 from 4.10, or any other newer than 4.9 cacti retrieves all SNMP data and shows it in graphs…
Tried rebuilding poller cache, after upgrading ROS,nothing.
I’m hitting my head to a brick wall…
Anyone has the same problem?
Steven

Hi Martin,
Devices with v 4.9 do work without problem.
Would it be too much to ask to upgrade one of yours MKTKs to v 4.10?
I just can’t get my head around this one.
Not even the generic interface query works on this box.
I wander what changed in v4.10!!!
What’s new in 4.10 (2010-May-28 13:59):
*) added support for ethernet switch configuration in WinBox;
*) allow to configure 11n wireless rate tx powers in WinBox;
*) dhcp server - show non-printable option 82 agent-circuit-id and
agent-remote-id values in hexadecimal notation also in winbox;
*) api - fixed ‘/ip/route/print’, was not showing ‘.id’ values;
*) > console - fixed printing of OID values;
*) lcd - added support for AX89063
I think I might have found the problem here… *) console - fixed printing of OID values;
This are the results of verbose queries of both associated data queries to a MKTK box.

do not upgrade the boot loader because if you revert it to v4.9 you’ll crash the AP or all interfaces will be in a big mess.
Done that with a RB1100 and I had a 2000 customers + no Internet nightmare
I think it depends on what are you monitoring… I’m looking for the CPU, memory and more basic things.. I never reach to make the frequency or registrations or signals working with cacti..
the thing is, I do and works just peachy until upgrading to v 4.10
I monitor:
Traffic on all interfaces
Associated clients
Router board voltage (where it applies)
Routerboard Temperature (where it applies)
Memory Usage
Disk Usage
Uptime
CPU
I have 150+ MKTK based units monitored, plus another 1000 customers which request to be monitored or we put them under monitoring for better analysis of their connections… you imagine upgrading all infrastructure and CPEs to the latest stable (v.411).
BLINDNESS.
I’ve been using the same scripts, host and graph templates for the past 3 years (except voltage and temperature which are new additions in MKTK OIDs) on different Cacti servers
As I said, all works fine without problems for all boards with ROS 4.9 or older.
As a matter of fact, I deleted the host that has v 4.10 from Cacti, deleted all RRDs and recreated the host. now I have some graphs but incomplete. It only retrieves the used memory but not the total memory, assoc stations - nada.
I know it has to be a reason. I’ll check Cacti forums…
I wander if that “fixed printing of OID values” which Mikrotik “blessed” us with, has something to do here
I bet they fixed something that was already working
It would be helpful if anyone at Mikrotik explain what “fixed printing of OID values” means?
Traffic - you only have to add ASMP - Interface Statistics Data Query to your host template and you can monitor traffic. You can select all interfaces or the one you want (bridge, ethernet or wireles)
Associated stations (only for APs) - is a graph template using the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.3.1.6.2.
