Hi, Recently ive been trying to fix bufferbloat while my network is under load. I first setup FQ-codel but that didnt do much so i made a cake setup with queue trees and mangle rules, and it actually helped while my network was freed up. Before i optimized i had around 20 ping and 70/100ms latency. After cake when only having a game on i had 20ping and 40/40ms latency so it actually helped. But after i opened up like 2 chrome tabs and joined a discord call i averaged 150ms latency. This is partually due to my internet being horrid but im sure theres something that u can do better then i did so if possible, id greatly appriciate some suggestions on what to try/change. My download is around:73mbps and upload:29mbps. If necesary i can give my current setup on everything i use.
Not sure what model router you are using, but with 73 and 29 I don't think cake will challenge your processor. Rather than queue trees, if those aren't working as well as you like, you might test using a cake simple queue on your wan with fasttrack disabled. There are lots of options in terms of setting up cake, but maybe just use the defaults to start and ratchet your max-limit down too far (even to 50%) at first to see if the lower max-limit with cake gets your latency down. If it does with your max-limit set too low, you can then start ratcheting it up bit by bit to see where your latency reaches an unacceptable limit... and then you can also start tweaking cake with the various other settings to see if that improves things even better.
