Can a CAPsMAN wAP ax be transferred to a different router?

My family bought a home but the moving process will take up to a month. I signed up for T-Mobile mainly since Verizon lacks Fios in the new house, but want to set up my MikroTik cluster instead of sharing the T-Mobile router password.

I have two spare MikroTik routers and Cat6 cables were installed in the new house which are attached to two wAP AXs (two are in the old home which will be transferred when it’s done).

Can a wAP AX connected via CAPsMAN be transferred to a different router from the one it was originally set up on, and moved back when I actually move my homelab?

BTW I know T-Mobile uses CGNAT but I have a L2TP tunnel to a BGP VPS which gives me my public IP fix (otherwise we’d have Spectrum).

Not really. CAPsMAN uses certificate (self-issued usually) to encrypt/sign communication with its CAPs.

However, you can copy CAPsMAN configuration to another device. You may need to “kick” CAPs to connect and let be provisioned by different CAPsMAN though.

Why not just reset the cap when you move between the routers?

I actually did move the wAP and it worked just fine with a different CAPsMAN instance even without resetting .

I didn’t want to reset because eventually my old router will be put back.

When your old router comes back… it still has the config for the caps. That’s the point.
