Can a lost IPSEC client cert be recovered?

I have (had) a IKEv2 connection from a remote site to my router. The remote is also a Mikrotik device. At some point I reset my router to default - while not having properly made a backup first. Brilliant of me wasn’t it?

So the remote site continues to try to connect to me. And I get the “unable to get local issuer certificate(20) at depth:0…” and the “can’t verify peer’s certificate from store”. Reasonable. But…is it possible to change my setup (termporarily) to accept the remote’s connection regardless? With the tunnel established I can fix things. Access to the remote site is possible but not convenient.

I guess that’s the advantage AND disadvantage of these certificates.
Very secure but you’re so out of luck when you misplace it.
Unless you do not have any other way to connect to that device, I’d say it’s time to get packing and leave.
In the mean time, work on your backups, on DIFFERENT places. And TEST that the backups work.
