can any one explain why 2.4 works and 5.8 does not

Hello,

please check the image taken for the link

the location is working fine since last 1 year with 411 board and cheap alpha cards(22dbi setting) 24dbi grid ant

but i have already tried metal 5Shpn 30dbi grid ant and was even unable to detect a signal at the other end

what is the issue

maybe trees?

no trees man it’s clear LoS

Post your configs here and we maybe able to find the issue?

What antennas are you using? Most antennas are tuned for particular frequency ranges, so if your trying to use a 2.4 antenna with a 5.x radio it’s not going to work. Need to use a 5.x antenna.

no man read the post carefully
i have written that particular frequency antenna was used

have you tried establishing a link at ground level first by plugging up the 2 x 5g metal into dummy loads before taking them to site.

Select a channel please and put in scan list, make sure channel is same at both ends… Do a scan and report back the “background noise level” even though they dont connect… (both ends)

Frequency response of the grid antennas at 30dbi, some are 5.1 -5.4 others have 5.4 to 5.8 and then you have 5.1 to 6GHZ, it’s very important to state which model grid you are using,
Since you haven’t posted config we can only guess what causing the issue it could be a simple omission on the config or using a frequency beyond the gain band or different polarities being used for the grids,

Bad Metal5 perhaps? Is one about 10c hotter to the touch than the other?

yes you are correct
