Can Disc Lite5 ac be used as a 802.11ac wireless access point?

I made a very stupid mistake. Just bought a Disc Lite5 ac and I thought it is simply a cheaper and more powerful version of cAP ac.

Now, as far as I understand, the Disc Lite5 is for creating a long range wifi connections between two points.

Is there any way I can configure RouterOS and use Disc Lite5 ac as normal wifi access point for home appliances?

There are two potential issues:

  1. the software on this unit is only for using it as a wifi client. the license upgrade to “access point” costs 45USD. This means it’s probably cheaper to buy the correct model for the situation and use this elsewhere

  2. The antenna has only a very narrow 12-degree antenna, like a beam that connects to a specific point in the distance. Outside this 12 degree beam, you can’t connect to it.
