My edge router is one hop far from my client, that I want to apply simple or queues trees.
Topology is like this:
Client1->Core Router → Edge Router.
Can I make the queues in my Edge Router (CCR 1009) or should I add the queues on my ‘Core Router’?
If I add them in the Edge Router and if client ip is a routed Public Ip (and considering that is not directly connected to any of Edge Router interfaces)
They always say let the router route but…I do have my edge router as a simple queue. And we have about 1800 queues on our CCR-1036-8G-2S+ .. With that said yes we are offloading them soon to a secondary device that is nearest to our edge. but as long as the traffic is going through it you can add transparent queuing but it is not always recommended.
I hope that helps.

What do you mean with transparent queueing?
If you have a bridge on the edge or between the edge and your client you can place queues that allow the queuing to occur on a bridge. This is considered transparent because it is not routed to the edge where most queuing can occur or on the client end point. If it is between the two and it is in bridge mode it is transparent. You can also use tools like a torch etc between the two devices but this helps if you want to centralize your queuing or have the ability to control a device’s speed if it is a non Mikrotik product without queuing or speed capabilities.
Hope that makes more sense.
