Can i set my mikrotik to run turbo mode?

I have replaced my 2 senao’s with a mikrotik 411 and 433 with 3 r52 cards. Im using 2,4ghz 24dbi grids. With the senao’s i got 80% signal and 34mbit up to 48mb throughput. But now with the 2 mikrotik’s i get 42% signal and 11mbit - 36mbit throughput. Can this be that the card is not set to use turbo mode and is ther a way to boost the signal for max performace? Thanx

What frequency are you using? What were the settings (exactly) of the previous equipment? Are you using different antennas and pigtail cables to the antennas?

I just replaced the routers, all the other stuff is the same. In the logs it says extensive data loss. The internet seems to work but slow. What can i do or set? My signal strengh is -83

Go back to the original setup and try to compare what’s different. If the frequency is different - it may now be operating on a freq with more noise on it.

Maybe i should try to align the antenna’s, maybe that would help

Yes, align antennas, if that doesn’t work, get stronger radio cards. R52H or xr2 would be an improvement. You need to get the signal down below -80 and better to run below -75.

We try to keep our signals in the -55 to -65 range to allow for weather and interference loss.

Tom

Thanx tom i will try to get better card’s. Currently my signal is 91 nad the other one is 83. A bit high.

it’s “-91” (minus) so better to say “low”

-100 no signal at all
-90 very bad signal
-70 acceptable
-60 good signal
-50 strong signal
-40 too strong signal

Im going to try and get r52h card. The r53’s that im using now is 2 weak. The senao’s had 400mw and the r52’s only 100mw. The r52h will have 350. So then my connection will be great again.

what about the new R5H ?

and why do you need all this power, I can almost guarantee you that it won’t help

The new rh5 is 5ghz. I think that the connection will be good is i get 2 r53h’s becos when i had the 2 senao’s the connection was fine. But now with the r52’s the network is slow and weak signal

if you have weak signal, you have to improve the fresnel zone, align the antennas better, shorten your cables and find any losses. increasing power in bad situations will only increase noise

I already tried that, the antenna’s is aligned the best that i can get it. and the routers is set to perform at best. Yesterday i did a scan and found that there is 30ssid’s in my range. If i boost my signal range then the performace may be better.

no  imagine this very simple comparison:

a room full of people. everyone is whispering. one guy can’t hear his conversation parner, so he raises his voice. now - others also are disturbed, so they are also forced to raise their voices. in the end - everyone is screaming, but situation is the same as before.

use another frequency, something just outside of the range everyone is in.

Maybe you should purchase superchannel license from MirkoTik ($10?) and use the new frequencies to avoid that.

I think i going to get the cards. I have downloaded the r52 and r52h pdf from the net. In the pdf it says that the cards have chipset ar5414 but my cards have the ar5413. Wonder why. It also says that the cards can run turbo but when i choose the freq of the cards then i can only choose a/b or g only. The turbo option is not there. I wonder is the rb 411 and 433 support turbo mode or is it the card that determines it? My rb133 used to support turbo mode.

The options that i can choose with the rb433 and rb411 is…

2.4Ghz-B
2.4Ghz-B/G
2.4Ghz-only-G
5Ghz
5Ghz-10Mhz
5Ghz-5Mhz
2Ghz-5Mhz

…But not 2.4 turbo. Why is that so? I have the latest version. :frowning:

This stuff is starting to give me a headache. :frowning:

Hi Normis im still waiting for my suplier to get the r52h cards instock. I cannot wait any longer so i went i put the ecb8610 card in my rb433. The signal strengh is -76. The logs only shows that the connection was lost once. but it reconneted again. Now i have a 100mw at home and the 400mw at work. Do you think i should keep the 8610 card in the mikrotik or will it overheat? In another post someone said that the nmp 8610 cardhave a good chance to overheat.
