Can i Update from 3.22 to 4.2?

as experts suggest i tried to update 4.1x86 but Router OS said “NoThing To Upgrade”

is it safe to update from 3.22 x86 to 4.2 x86 ( as the Mikrotik.com recommend to update within 72 hours)?

Straight from the big, huge, gigantic warning that pops up when you go to the download page:

License update required for v4 upgrades within 72 hours

Upgrading procedure for all devices:

  1. Update the Bootloader if using a RouterBOARD
  2. In your RouterOS v3.25 or newer, Update your RouterOS license
  3. Upload new RouterOS v4 packages to the router, and reboot

If you are currently running an older version of RouterOS, where license can’t be upgraded to the new format, you can still upgrade, but absolutely make sure that After successful upgrade click on the “Update License” button in Winbox and make sure the new license is accepted. You will have 72 hours to do this, but it’s recommended to do this immediatelly

i already read that warning thats y confused.
just want to know is that save or it will distrub perivous configuration?

Some people had issues on certain hardware. Make a backup, give it a shot. It’s virtually impossible for anyone to guarantee to you that things will be fine. It’s very likely that things will be fine, though.

Ideally - and this is true for any production device important to you - you should have a spare with the exact same hardware. Load your configuration onto the spare, upgrade it. If it works it is extremely likely that the upgrade will also work fine on the production unit.

i have a licensed version of Mikrotik 3.22 and want to upgrade it to v4.3.

i need a answer of my simple question please.

If i upgrade my Mikrotik from 3.22 to 4.3, will it ask for license of 4.3 or will work properly with the 3.22 License.

you will have to click the “update license” button in winbox after upgrading. it is a free process, but it has to be done. just like it says in that popup

You Mean 4.3 Will Not Ask For New License I Just Have To Click On Update License And It Will Work With The License Of Older One?

I tried to upgrade my RouterOS 3.22 to 4.3. It Successfully upgraded.
But the thing which i asked many times to experts here is:
“IS that Ask for new license for 4.3 or work properly with the license of 3.22?”

Experts reply that it will not ask for newer license and work properly with the license of 3.22.

Now, After Upgrade, i clicked on Update License key but its says INVALID REQUEST RECIEVED and its now for 24 Hours trial Period.

Please guide me with the proepr suggestion.

Why are you connected over MAC address? Connect via IP address and then click “Update key” in Winbox License menu. Never connect with MAC unless there is an emergency!

You don’t have a valid license on the device. Did you pay for your license ? Please contact support with the SoftID that you paid for, and we will figure it out.
