can make ether1 10.0.0.2 and ether2 10.0.0.3

hi there

my network like that :-

adsl —> modem ----> mikrotik ----> switch ----> clients pc’s

now i have my configuration for my mikrotik like that :-

  • ether1 ( local ) 192.168.1.1/24 .
  • ether2 (public) 10.0.0.2/24 .
  • modem ( gateway ) 10.0.0.1/8 .
and it work good . but

i want to do this :-

1- ether1 ( local ) take 10.0.0.2/24 .
2- ether2 (public) take 10.0.0.3/24.
and sure my modem still 10.0.0.1/8.

when i try to do that . what happened is :
1- i gave ether1 ( local ) 10.0.0.2/24 and it’s take it " no problem ".
2- i gave ether2 (public) 10.0.0.3/24 and it’s take it " no problem ".
3- but when try to put the gateway 10.0.0.1 in router table it attached to the ether1 (local ) not to the ether2 (public) .

look that :-

waht can i do to force the gateway to attached to ether2 (public) not ether1 ( local ) and make the form that i tell i want work

thank you

no,
don’t put same subnet on two or more interfaces

Take an IP course. Your suggested config is bogus by design.
