Can Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD handle 200 users at the same time?

Dear all,

I’m a new user for Mikrotik. Here, I would like to ask you a question related to number of Wireless client users that can connect to Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD if I allow 200 users connected to it with speed 10Mbps (up/dow). So, does it work well without any stuck or problem as your experiences?

I’m waiting forward to getting your valuable response asap!

Thanks in advance!

RB751U only has 100Mbit interfaces, so if you need 200x10Mbit, you will not be able to provide such bandwidth.

Theoretically you can connect 200 users to this unit, but not if they all need 10Mbit at the same time.

Dear Support team,

Thanks very much for you quick response. Yeah, in fact speed 10Mbps is used for all not each user.

The question was related to wireless clients not wired.

Will it actually take 200 Wireless clients at the same time ?

I hear the specific models 751 series are “problematic” for such use

An AP with 200 wireless client in my experience can offer limited quality of service under daily life condition like:

  1. if use NV2 the latency will be be influenced by the number of active client. if you use 802.11 wireless protocol collision model will be
dramatically influecned by number of users.

  2. if all the subscribers are at the same distance , it’s ok otherwise the radio part of the equipment will suffer of the number of subscriber

  3. if all subscriber has the same rate it’s ok otherwise the switch between rates will have impact on the performances.

with good radio and powerful routerboard as 411 AH , having almost 60 subscribers with distances in the range 1km -16 KM is giving us latency problem with ping between cpe and AP of the 30-40 ms. As soon as we donwgraded the number of subscribers to 40 the APP came back to life.

hoping my opinion will be useful to your sizing decision
have a nice day

Great reply, can you have a look at my other post @ http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/advice-for-hotspot-setup-using-rb751g-2hnd/58859/1 ?

Dear Dinopio & others,
Thank you all for your nice sharing. Yeah, you’re right, Dinopio, so which model is better for such use. May you guide me?

Thanks again,

I have the same question here http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/advice-for-hotspot-setup-using-rb751g-2hnd/58859/1

My post is a bit more descriptive what I want to do, let me know if you have a similar setup.
