I have an RB750 router installed in a field cabinet (not easily accessible) at one of our customers abroad.
I need to log into it to change some parameters, but I am not able to log onto the router.
Our customer have given us teamviewer access to a server installed on the same subnet as the router itself.
Whan lauching WinBox 3.19, and selecting Neighbors tab, the router is present there with ip, mac and all, and I am also able to ping the router.
But If i select it, enter user/password and click connect, nothing happens, other than eventually I get the “Error. Could not connect” error msg.
I had the customer drive to the location of the router and power cycle it, but that did not help.
I even wanted to temporary turn off the firewall of the PC just to rule it out, but it turned out it was already off.
The software version repoerted by WinBox is 6.34.6 (bugfix).
Services like Telnet and SSH is something we always turn off.
So my question is, what could be the likely cause of not beeing able to log onto the router ?

It seems that a firewall rule on the router might be blocking you since you’re not connecting from LAN. The solution is to give the change instructions to the customer for them to do it while you watch via teamview.
Firewall rule block access only from ether1-WAN-TILKOBLING, it should work from any other interface. Also connecting to MAC address should work from anywhere, because it’s enabled by default and this config doesn’t disable it.
The ether1-WAN-TILKOBLING is the connection to the outside world, and is the subnet I am trying to connect from, using Winbox.
So what you are saying is that connecting directly to MAC address should work in this configuration.
Edit: I found that the reason it did not work is that I did not click the mac field when selecting the router in the WinBox list, so it tried to connect with IP
instead of MAC, so now I have done the changes and everything is good.
