Can not reset mAP device

Hello!

I had to reset the mikrotik hAP, but something goes wrong. Now only the AP/CAP led blinks fast, and none of the reset method mentioned in the help (5sec/10sec/15sec) work, netinstall does not find the router etc.

Is it bricked?

Hello, did you follow this tutorial on how to netinstall ?

https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall

Yes, and figured out the problem already

You have to install ROS 6.xx on th mAP through Netinstall, installing ROS 7.xx causes the router inoperable. After succesful boot one can install ROS 7.xx by winbox without problems, probably something with 16MB HDD size.

Anyway I have two more questions:

  1. I can’t find anywhere in the help what the “fast blinking AP/CAP” led means (beside this, the wifi led off, the lan1 on because connected)
  2. And WHY after a normal ‘5 seconds’ reset I’ve ended up with netinstall’ing the ROS on (probably) damaged HDD

Glad you solved your problem. For other answers mabye someone with mAP can answer.

Maybe reset somehow corrupted files on HDD rendering device useless.

Are you referring to
mAP - RBmAP2nD
or
hAP - RB951Ui-2nD

???

Because your title and text in your posts are not in line.

Anyhow (doesn’t matter, more or less same platform), ROS7 runs just fine on several of my mAP devices (it’s actually the first thing I always do when installing mAP, upgrade to ROS7 because I usually need wireguard as fallback connection next to IPSEC).
And I also netinstalled a couple already with ROS7 (issues with earlier beta versions and/or testing netinstall setup), no issues whatsoever (it’s not logical netinstall would cause more issues then upgrade from ROS6 to ROS7).
